SYMPTOMS
When you try to use the Refresh Server command in the SoftGrid Client Management console on a Microsoft SoftGrid client computer, you receive the following error message:
Note This problem occurs on a particular server. The command may be completed successfully on other servers.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the network is experiencing latency or other connectivity-related issues. You are most likely to experience this problem in a wide area network (WAN). However, you may also experience this problem in a local area network (LAN).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, determine and then correct the cause of the latency in the network. If the cause of the latency cannot be corrected, you can increase the time-out period for the connection. To increase the time-out period, configure the ConnectTimeout registry entry by entering the required time-out period in seconds in the hexadecimal format. The ConnectTimeout registry entry is located under the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softricity\SoftGrid Client\CurrentVersion\Network
Configure the registry entry as follows:
- Value name: ConnectTimeout
- Value type: REG_DWORD
- Value data: Value in seconds. Enter this value in hexadecimal format.
Note The default time-out period is 20 seconds. This value in hexadecimal format is 14.
MORE INFORMATION
The source of the network latency issue may be the network connections between the following resources:
- The SoftGrid client and the SoftGrid virtual application server
- The SoftGrid server and the Microsoft SQL Server database
Devon IT NTA thin-client terminals
If you are using the SoftGrid client on a Devon IT NTA thin-client terminal, you may also see output that is related to this problem in the Sftnta.txt log file. The Sftnta.txt log file is typically located in one of the following folders:
- Program Files\Softricity\SoftGrid for Windows Desktops
- Program Files\Softricity\SoftGrid for Terminal Servers
When you experience network latency issues, you may see the following output in the Sftnta.txt log file:
