SYMPTOMS
After you install security update 931768 (MS07-027), you may experience performance issues when you perform the following actions:
- You type any text in a Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 e-mail message. For example, the characters appear slowly after you type.
- You open an e-mail message.
- You view an e-mail message in the Reading pane.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
- The e-mail message is in HTML format.
- You have lots of entries in the Restricted Sites list in Internet Explorer.
Note This condition can occur if you install some third-party tools such as Spybot, IE-Spyad, or SpywareBlaster.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
- Use Rich Text format when you compose an e-mail message.
- In Outlook 2003, click Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the Mail Format tab, click to select the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages check box, and then click OK.
- When you compose the e-mail message, click Rich Text in the Message format list.
- Disable the third-party tools, or manually remove the registry entries from the Restricted Sites zone in Internet Explorer.
