SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You create a Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 presentation. This presentation contains a graph that displays values as lines and displays percentages under the lines. Then, you open the presentation in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003. You try to edit the graph. In this scenario, the percentages in the graph disappear.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, apply the hotfix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
931663 Plot lines that contain labels disappear when you edit a Microsoft Excel chart or a Microsoft Graph chart in an Office 2003 program
To enable this hotfix, follow these steps.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11\Excel\Options\ - Right-click the subkey that you located in step 2, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type QFE_Bonn as the name of the newly created registry entry, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click QFE_Bonn, type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
