SYMPTOMS
You use the filter control and the cube browser against an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services that has Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed. After you perform the filtering operation and the browsing operation, you experience the following problems:
- The client application stops responding.
- The Msmdsrv.exe process uses all the available memory.
Note The Msmdsrv.exe process is the server component of Analysis Services.
- The CPU usage is 100 percent.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a regression in SQL Server 2005 SP2. The client application stops responding because Analysis Services incorrectly continues to update the calculation on the session.
