SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 on a computer that uses one of the following:
    • Intel Virtualization technology
    • AMD Secure Virtual Machine hardware on which "hardware virtualization assist" is enabled
  • In Virtual Server 2005, you create an IBM "OS/2 Warp Server for eBusiness" virtual machine.
  • On the virtual machine, you install Aurora Convenience Pack (ACP) 2.

In this scenario, the virtual machine may crash when you try to install the LAN Server feature from the convenience pack.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you use the Virtual Machine Additions feature to install the GRADD video adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the VGA video adapter on the virtual machine. For more information about how to install the VGA video adapter, see the product documentation for "OS/2 Warp Server for eBusiness."
