The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Microsoft Office Outlook Compatibility Update. You use the "E-mail via Mail Merge" feature to distribute a campaign activity. Then, you open the "Sent Items" folder in Outlook. In this scenario, some e-mail messages do not appear in the "Sent Items" folder in Outlook. When you review the campaign activity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you see only two sent e-mail messages. No failures are listed.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • You use a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document in the "E-mail via Mail Merge" feature.
  • The Word 2007 document contains an image that is a hyperlink.
  • When you use the "E-mail via Mail Merge" feature, you do not populate the unsubscribe text for the campaign activity.


RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Installation information

Install this hotfix on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 client for Microsoft Office Outlook.

If you are prompted, restart the computer after you install the hotfix.

Removal information

To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows 2000, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000.

The Spuninst.exe tool is located in the %Windir%\$NTUninstallKB936779$\Spuninst folder.
