SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- In the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, a client sends a request to a server by using the HttpWebRequest class.
- The server sends an HTTP response to the client by using chunked transfer coding.
- The connection is closed before the chunked HTTP response is completely sent to the client. For example, the connection is closed when a network error occurs or when the server is restarted.
In this scenario, the client cannot determine whether the chunked HTTP response is completed.
Note A chunked HTTP response is completed when the last chunk is sent to the client. The length of the last chunk is 0 (zero).
RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
