Notice
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS
In SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query reads from an aggregation that has less than 4,096 records. In this case, the query may be slow.
Additionally, if you use SQL Server Profile to trace the execution of the query, you notice that the query does not read only from the partition that contains the data that is requested. Instead, the query scans all the partitions.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because a slice is created when SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services creates an index. For an aggregation that has less than 4,096 records, no index is created. Therefore, no slice is created. This situation causes all partitions to be scanned.
RESOLUTION
Cumulative update information
