APPLIES TO

  • Winternals Defrag Manager 3.0
  • Winternals Defrag Manager 4.0

SUMMARY

This article describes how to configure computers in a workgroup so that you can run Winternals Defrag Manager successfully. The workgroup is not part of a domain.

MORE INFORMATION

To configure computers in a workgroup so that you can run Defrag Manager successfully, make sure that each computer that is included in the defrag schedule has the same local administrator account. For example, each computer in the workgroup might have a local administrator account that is named EDISON and that has a password of Xyz123.

You should also specify this account and password in the Log On tab of Defrag Manager or when you are prompted by the New Schedule Wizard.

Then, defrag schedules can run on computers in the workgroup that have this account and password.

You can view the real-time defrag progress of remote computers in the workgroup through the Computers and Volumes tab of Defrag Manager. To do this, log on to the computer that is running the Defrag Manager console. Use the account that is supplied when you create the defrag schedules.
