The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you create a workflow rule to create e-mail messages. When you manually run the workflow rule, you receive the following error message:
If the workflow rule is set up to run automatically when there is an action on another entity, the e-mail message is not created. Additionally, you receive the following error message in the platform trace:
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- A PreCreate callout is configured on the e-mail entity.
- The callout changes the contents of the entityXml string. For example, the callout may replace a string value.
Note If the entityXml string is not changed, the error message does not occur.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. If you are prompted, restart the computer after you install the hotfix.
Removal information
To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0.
The Spuninst.exe tool is located in the %Windir%\$NTUninstallKB935443$\Spuninst folder.
