APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, when used with:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

This article describes the following about this hotfix release:

  • The issues that are fixed by the hotfix package
  • The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package
  • Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package
  • Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package
  • Whether you must make any registry changes
  • The files that are contained in the hotfix package

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a report that contains a table in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. The width of the table cells is set to 100%. You configure the report server to deliver the report to the client computer by using e-mail. The client computer is running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.

When the user opens the report in Outlook 2007, the table appears to be compressed. However, if the user opens the report in Microsoft Internet Explorer or in Outlook Web Access (OWA) 2007, the table is displayed correctly.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Outlook 2007 uses the Microsoft HTML parsing and rendering engine (MSHTML) from Microsoft Office Word 2007 to display an e-mail. When MSHTML from Word 2007 processes the table cell, MSHTML from Word 2007 ignores extra space. When MSHTML from Internet Explorer processes the table cell, MSHTML from Internet Explorer displays as much space as possible.

Note Earlier versions of Microsoft Office Outlook use MSHTML from Internet Explorer to display e-mail.
