This article describes the main differences between NTFSDOS Professional and ERD Commander 2000. Both NTFSDOS Professional and ERD Commander 2000 are components of Winternals Administrator's Pak.

NTFSDOS Professional provides full access to NTFS partitions from DOS. NTFSDOS Professional can run together with many external DOS programs. For example, you can run NTFSDOS Professional together with Ghost. NTFSDOS Professional provides no additional functionality to DOS other than NTFS support.

ERD Commander 2000 works in a command-line environment in Microsoft Windows NT or in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. This environment supports many DOS commands, such as copy, del, dir, and other commands. This environment also supports other features and functions. These features and functions include the following:

  • Using SCSI/RAID devices
  • Operating system fault tolerance
  • Password changing
  • Registry modification
  • Text editing
  • Manipulation of services and of devices

ERD Commander 2000 does not support commands that are not already included in the program. ERD Commander 2000 also does not support commands that are included in external executable files.
