SYMPTOMS

When you use Online Media in the Windows Media Center Extender on an Xbox 360 Video game system, Media Center closes. Additionally, you receive the following error message on a Windows Vista-based Media Center PC:

Connection Terminated
The Xbox 360 has been disconnected because an application has launched UI unexpectedly. Would you like to reconnect?

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the floating language bar is enabled on the Windows Vista-based Media Center PC. This configuration closes the connection between the Media Center PC and the Media Center Extender.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, change the language bar settings for the Media Center Extender. To do this, follow these steps.

Step 1: Configure settings on the Windows Vista-based Media Center PC

  1. Click Start [GRAPHIC: Start button ], type intl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
  2. On the Keyboards and Languages tab, click Change keyboards.
  3. On the Language Bar tab, click Docked in the taskbar under Language Bar options.
  4. Click OK.
  5. On the Administrative tab, click Copy to reserved accounts.
