APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the additional 300 bytes of data in the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log files.

MORE INFORMATION

In Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, an additional 300 bytes of data is included at the beginning of the usage event log files. This helps prevent malicious code from being inserted in the usage event log files.

The following string is included at the beginning of the additional 300 bytes of data:

"Windows SharePoint Services HTTP log file"

Note This string is followed by space characters.

You may want to configure the parsing tool to ignore the first 300 bytes of data if you use a parsing tool to do either of the following:

  • Read the contents of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log file.
  • Query the contents of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 usage event log file.
