APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0:

  • You remove the following permissions for a security role:
    • The Service permission
    • The Facilities/Equipment permission
    • The Site permission
  • You assign this security role to a user.
  • You use this user account to log on to Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

In this scenario, you cannot create a service activity because the Service Activity option is not available. This behavior is expected.

However, if you open an entity form to add a related activity, the Service Activity option is available. This option should not be available because the security role that is assigned to the user account does not have the permission for this option.

For example, if you open the Opportunity form to add an activity, the Service Activity option is available.

This problem also occurs if the user has a security role that does not have the Append To permission for the Campaign object. When you add an activity on an entity form, the Campaign Response activity option appears as a valid activity that can be created.
