Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System (VSTO) Outlook add-ins do not run when you use the Outlook View Control from a Web page

Article ID: 933822

Article Last Modified on 3/20/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Outlook View Control from a Web page, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System (VSTO) Outlook add-ins do not run.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the following conditions are true:

  • Outlook Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) add-ins do not always correctly unload. To work around this problem, VSTO Outlook add-ins are prevented from loading when the Inspector count or the Explorer count is less than one. This design only exists for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 VSTO add-ins.
  • The Outlook View Control is not considered a part of the Outlook user interface. Therefore, the VSTO add-ins do not load correctly.
