This article describes how to set up and use the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows lets you extend the wireless gaming experience that you enjoy on your Xbox 360 console to a Windows-based computer. After you set up the Wireless Gaming Receiver on a computer, you can connect and use any officially licensed Xbox 360 wireless accessory on that computer.

Note The Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows is for use on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1), or a later version of Windows, and that has a powered USB 2.0 port. The receiver is not intended for use on the Xbox 360 console.


Install the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows software on a computer

  1. Before you connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver to the computer, insert the installation disc in the disc drive on the computer.

  1. Follow the steps in the wizard to install the software for the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

Connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows to a computer

  1. Remove the green label from the USB connector on the Wireless Gaming Receiver.
  2. Insert the USB connector into an available powered USB 2.0 port on the computer.

  1. When a green light illuminates on the Wireless Gaming Receiver, the unit is operating correctly. You can now connect any officially licensed Xbox 360 wireless accessory.

Connect an Xbox 360 wireless accessory to the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows

  1. Turn on the Xbox 360 wireless accessory that you want to use with your receiver.

    Note This example illustrates how to turn on a controller by pressing the Xbox Guide button. If you do not know how to turn on the accessory, see the documentation for that accessory.

  2. Press the connect button on the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. The light flashes green.
  3. Press the connect button on the Xbox 360 wireless accessory. A green flashing light on the accessory and on the receiver indicate that the device is trying to establish a connection. For example, if you are connecting the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, the Ring of Light will rotate as the device tries to connect.

  4. After the connection process is complete, the green light on the receiver and on the accessory will stop flashing and remain illuminated. If you are connecting the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, the light indicates the quadrant to which the accessory is connected.
