MORE INFORMATION

Overview

Before you run the Microsoft Exchange Calendar Update Configuration Tool, view the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information about potential effects on your IT environment and user base:

941018 How to address daylight saving time by using the Exchange Calendar Update Tool

If you install the Windows time zone update package that is mentioned in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 933360, users experience the following symptom:

Single-instance appointments or recurring appointments that occur in the extended DST period incorrectly appear one hour ahead.

Note This issue occurs if the users are in a time zone that is affected by the DST changes in 2007.

You must update these appointments so that they will appear correctly in Microsoft Office Outlook, in Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access, and in Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) applications. The Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook lets you update a user's mailbox to allow for DST 2007 calendar changes. You can use the Exchange Calendar Update Tool to update multiple user mailboxes. This tool uses the Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook to update each user's mailbox.

If you use the Exchange Calendar Update Configuration Tool to update multiple user mailboxes, you may be able to avoid deploying the Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook to the users in the Exchange environment.

To help you use the Exchange Calendar Update Configuration Tool, we have created a virtual machine that you can use in your organization. You can run this virtual machine in either of the following environments:
