This article describes why you cannot connect an Xbox 360 console to more than one Media Center PC.

When you connect an Xbox 360 console to a Media Center PC, the Xbox 360 console creates and stores information about the connection. This information is known as "connection data."
You may find that when you try to connect an Xbox 360 console to a Windows Vista-based Media Center PC after you had the console connected to a Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer, you cannot establish a connection between the two devices. Because the connection data is specific to the version of Media Center that is running on the computer, connection data from one connection can prevent the console from connecting to a different computer.
If you previously connected the console to one Media Center PC and you want to connect the console to a different Media Center PC, you must first remove any existing association between the Xbox 360 console and the computer. To remove an existing association between an Xbox 360 console and a Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer, follow these steps:
Steps on the Windows XP-based Media Center PC
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Media Center, and then click Media Center Extender Manager.
- Select the Xbox 360 console, and then click Properties.
- Click Remove.
- Click Yes to confirm the removal.
Steps on the Xbox 360 console
- In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Computers.
- Select Windows Media Center, and then press the A button.
- Select Disconnect.
- Press the B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
- If the Xbox 360 console has a hard drive or a memory card, move to the System section, and then select Memory.
- Select Hard Drive or select Memory Card, select Games, and then select your profile.
- Select Xbox 360 Dashboard, and then select Windows Media Center.
- Select Delete, and then press the A button.
- Press the B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
To remove an existing association between an Xbox 360 console and a Windows Vista-based Media Center PC, follow these steps:
Steps on the Windows Vista-based Media Center PC
- Start Windows Media Center.
- Click Tasks, and then click Settings.
- Click Extender, and then select the Xbox 360 console.
- Click Uninstall.
Steps on the Xbox 360 console
- In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Computers.
- Select Windows Media Center, and then press the A button.
- Select Disconnect.
- Press the B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
- If the Xbox 360 console has a hard drive or a memory card, move to the System section, and then select Memory.
- Select Hard Drive or Memory Card, select Games, and then select your profile.
- Select Xbox 360 Dashboard, and then select Windows Media Center.
- Select Delete, and then press the A button.
- Press the B button repeatedly until you return to the System section.
