SYMPTOMS
When you try to upgrade a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP to Windows Vista, you cannot select the Upgrade option. Also, you receive the following error message in the Install Windows dialog box:
CAUSE
This problem occurs because Windows XP Service Pack 2 is not installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Exit the Windows Vista installation process.
- Install Windows XP Service Pack 2. To do this, visit the following Windows Update site:
- Restart the Windows Vista installation process.
