SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You configure the xhtmlConformance element in the Web.config file for a Web application that is built by using Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. Then, you run the Web application. In this scenario, the Web application does not use the attribute value that you set in the xhtmlConformance element. Additionally, the HTML that the Web application generates may not comply with XHTML standards. This problem occurs when the Web application uses custom page adapters.
