APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Tzedit.exe tool to customize the Jerusalem (GMT + 02:00) time zone settings in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 organization.
  • You change the Jerusalem (GMT + 02:00) time zone settings for daylight saving time to the official transition dates for standard time.
  • You send a meeting request to a user in the Exchange 2003 organization.

When the Jerusalem (GMT + 02:00) time zone user uses Auto Accept Agent or a CDO-based program to accept the meeting request, the time of the meeting is moved back one hour. This problem occurs if the meeting is scheduled between September 16, 2007, and October 7, 2007.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the old algorithm for the Jerusalem (GMT + 02:00) time zone sets the standard time to the first Sunday in October. Israel daylight saving time and standard time transitions changed for the year 2006. A new algorithm is being used that has the following rules:

  • Move to daylight saving time at 2:00 A.M. on the last Friday before April 2.
  • Move to standard time at 2:00 A.M. on the Sunday before the tenth day of the Jewish month of Tishrei.

Note The decision to move back to standard time according to the Jewish calendar makes sure that the transition will always occur on Saturday night between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

RESOLUTION

This hotfix is valid only for the year 2007.
