SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, you receive the following error message:

The installation program encountered an error while attempting to execute a database statement. Windows NT user or group {group_name} not found. Check the name again.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the instance of Microsoft SQL Server is not in a trusted Microsoft Windows domain or is not in the same Windows domain as the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, move the instance of SQL Server to a trusted Windows domain or to the same Windows domain as the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.
