Microsoft has released the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated January 16, 2007.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • The Owssvr.dll file in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 causes Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to be loaded in a Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 configured Web site.

Prerequisites

The following list contains prerequisites for the hotfix package:

  • You can install this version of the on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 2 or Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1. However, we have tested this more extensively on Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 2 than on Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 1. If you install this on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend it.

Restart information

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.

Registry information

To use one of the hotfixes in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.
