SYMPTOMS
When you try to install Windows Live OneCare, you receive the following error message that has the error code 0037-80070643:
CAUSE
The Windows Live OneCare service was not installed correctly because of permissions-related problems in the registry.
RESOLUTION

Modify the permissions, and then delete a registry key that is related to Windows Live OneCare. To do this, follow these steps:
- Close the Windows Live OneCare installation program.
- Open Registry Editor:
Windows Vista- Click Start[[File:../gfx/vistastartbutton.jpg|[GRAPHIC: Start button]]], type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
[[File:../gfx/securityshield.jpg|[GRAPHIC: User Account Control]]] If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
Microsoft Windows XP
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Click Start[[File:../gfx/vistastartbutton.jpg|[GRAPHIC: Start button]]], type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
- Locate the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WinSS
registry key, and then expand theWinSS
registry key. - Locate the following subkey:
{74F777F9-6EB9-4939-9707-C5026A1FAB6F}
- Right-click the
{74F777F9-6EB9-4939-9707-C5026A1FAB6F}
subkey, and then click Permissions. - In the Permissions dialog box, make sure that Administrator Group has Full Control, and then close the dialog box.
- Manually delete the
{74F777F9-6EB9-4939-9707-C5026A1FAB6F}
subkey. - Restart the computer, and then reinstall Windows Live OneCare.
