SYMPTOMS

After you enter the product key and then click Next in the Windows Vista Setup Wizard, you may experience a long delay. This delay lasts about 20 to 60 seconds.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur because of a timing issue in the Windows Vista Setup Wizard. This timing issue is caused by the following processes:

  • The product key validation process
  • The Windows Vista setup process

When you click Next, these two processes run at the same time.
