FIX: Subscription services cannot extract metering data when the services try to synchronize metering data on a client computer that is running the Windows Media Format 11 SDK

SYMPTOMS

Subscription services cannot extract metering data from some portable devices that support metering. This problem occurs when the services try to synchronize metering data on a client computer that is running the Microsoft Windows Media Format 11 Software Development Kit (SDK) on Microsoft Windows XP or on Windows Vista.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a COM proxy interface uses an outdated definition.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install update 929399. To install this update, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Note This hotfix does not have a 64-bit version for Windows XP. This hotfix package applies the 32-bit version of this hotfix on the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

This problem does not cause data loss. After you apply the hotfix, previous metering data is available for extraction.
