INTRODUCTION
This article describes how to install Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 side-by-side with Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 or Windows Small Business Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1). This enables you to use the new features that are included in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and not to break the integration between Windows Small Business Server and Windows SharePoint Services 2.0.

To successfully install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 side-by-side with Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, you must select the No, Do not upgrade at this time option when you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. If you select this option, several Windows Small Business Server administrative wizards will fail. Additionally, data may be lost from SharePoint sites. However, the only supported installation method when you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a computer that is running Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 or Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP1 is to select the No, do not upgrade at this time option. This results in a side-by-side installation.
