SYMPTOMS
When you use a Microsoft Office 2003 program to change a 2007 Microsoft Office file in a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 document library, the changes are not saved. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The file was created in one of the following 2007 Office programs:
- Office Word 2007
- Office PowerPoint 2007
- Office Excel 2007
- The Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack was installed when you used the Office 2003 program to change and save the file.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because you are actually saving the changes in a temporary copy of the file. You are not saving the changes in the file that resides on the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 server. The copy in which you are saving the changes resides in the following folder:
\Documents and Settings\UserName
\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, type the full path of the document library in the Save As dialog box when you save the file in Office 2003. For example, type the following path:
http://ServerName
/sites/SiteName
/Shared%20Documents
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
