SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a Microsoft Office Word 2007 .docx file in the HTML format in Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, you receive the following error message:

Could not load file:filename.docx.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because FrontPage 2003 requires a converter to open Word 2007 .docx files in the HTML format.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. To obtain the compatibility pack, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

This compatibility pack contains the converter that FrontPage 2003 requires to open Word 2007 files.
