- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- On a client computer, you use the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a Microsoft Windows 2000-based terminal server.
- You copy formatted text from the client computer and then paste this text into a Rich TextBox control on the Windows 2000-based terminal server.
Note The Rich TextBox control may be associated with either the Richtx32.ocx or Riched20.dll file.
In this scenario, the formatted text is inserted as a picture in the Rich TextBox control.
Note This problem occurs only in the following versions of the Remote Desktop client:
- Version 5.1 of the Remote Desktop client that is included with Microsoft Windows XP.
- Version 5.2 of the Remote Desktop client that is included with Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
This problem does not occur in version 5.0 of the Terminal Services client that is included with Windows 2000.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the TextRTF property of the Rich TextBox control assumes that the formatted text is binary data.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:
- Use the Terminal Services client that is included with Windows 2000.
- Upgrade the terminal server computer to Windows Server 2003.
