The progress indicator may appear to stop increasing when you synchronize Outlook 2007 and items in either a Windows SharePoint Services site or a SharePoint Portal Server site

Article ID: 923577

Article Last Modified on 5/25/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

SYMPTOMS

You click Send/Receive to synchronize Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and items in any of the following:

  • A Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site
  • A Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site
  • A Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 site
  • A SharePoint Portal Server 2007 site

When you do this, the Outlook Send/Receive Progress indicator may increase quickly and may then appear to stop increasing.

CAUSE

This issue is more likely to occur when the following conditions are true:

  • There are lots of items in the Windows SharePoint Services site or in the SharePoint Portal Server site to synchronize.
  • You connect to the Windows SharePoint Services site or to the SharePoint Portal Server site by using a dial-up modem or another very slow connection.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, click Details in the Outlook Send/Receive Progress dialog box. If the count of new or of changed items that are being downloaded is increasing on the Tasks tab, the synchronization process is continuing.

Note This workaround does not indicate the time that is left to complete the synchronization process. However, you can verify that the process is continuing and did not stop.
