SYMPTOMS

When security update 911280 is installed on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based remote access server, the remote access server cannot perform a successful callback to a remote access client computer.

Additionally, the following event is logged in the Event Viewer System log on the remote access server: Event Type: Error

Description:
The Remote Access Server's attempt to callback user Domain\user_account port port_name at telephone_number failed because of the following error: There was no answer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the remote access server truncates the last digit from the callback telephone number when it performs a callback to a remote access client computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, add an extra digit at the end of the callback telephone number. The extra digit will be truncated, and the callback telephone number will be dialed correctly.
