SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 together with the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • You call a .NET assembly from BizTalk Server 2004.
  • The .NET assembly uses the HashMembershipCondition class in the System.Security.Policy namespace.

In this scenario, BizTalk Server 2004 cannot send or receive files. When this problem occurs, you receive the following error message:

Error:Unable to create the transform.. --->
System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: The parameter is incorrect.

Note This problem is more likely to occur under heavy stress conditions.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a race condition in the Hash class in the System.Security.Policy namespace.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
