SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, when a hard disk object repeatedly disappears and reappears, you find that either of the following bug check errors occurs:

  • 0x8E
  • 0x19


CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 does not support hard disk objects that are dynamically removed or added. For more information, contact the vendor for the hard disk before you apply this hotfix to determine whether you need to dynamically add or remove the hard disk itself.

RESOLUTION
