SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit, you experience one of the following symptoms:

  • The Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack does not charge.
  • The battery pack requires a long time to charge.
  • The charge kit does not turn on.
  • The lights on the charge kit do not illuminate correctly.

CAUSE

Many conditions can cause this behavior. See the "What To Try" section for more information.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Use the following table to troubleshoot the issue:
Condition or symptom Probable cause Resolution
The LED does not illuminate after you insert a battery pack. The battery pack is defective, or the charge kit cannot identify the battery pack as an Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack. Safely discard the battery pack, and then replace the battery pack with a new one.
After you insert the battery pack in the charge kit, the LED illuminates red and then turns off. The battery pack cannot hold a charge.

Note During the first 15 minutes of charging, if the charge kit determines that the battery pack cannot be charged, the battery pack is considered un-chargeable. If this is the case, the red LED will turn off.

Safely discard the battery pack, and then replace the battery pack with a new one.
Without a battery pack inserted, the LED illuminates green and then turns off. The charge kit is functioning correctly. After you connect the AC cord, both LED lights illuminate green for one second. This indicates that the charge kit is turned on. The charge kit is operating correctly, and the charge kit is ready to charge a rechargeable battery pack.
Without a battery pack inserted, the LED does not illuminate. The charge kit or the AC power cord may be defective.
    1. Unplug the AC power cord from the AC outlet.
    2. Examine the AC power cord for any visual defects. If you find any defects, do not use the AC power cord. Discard the cord, and then replace the AC power cord with a new one.
    3. Make sure that the AC power cord is fully inserted into the base of the charge kit.
You hear a buzzing or humming sound emanating from the charge kit. The charge kit is functioning correctly. If the battery pack is fully charged but remains attached to the charge kit, the charge kit maintains the battery charge. This action may create a faint buzzing or humming sound emanating from the charge kit. The charge kit is operating correctly.
The charge kit takes a long time to charge the battery pack. Typically, the charge kit will charge a battery pack in four hours. If the charge kit requires significantly more time than four hours, such as seven hours, one of the components may be defective.

Note Actual charging times can vary.

    1. Examine the charge kit for any visual defects. If you notice any leakage or powdery substance coming from the battery pack, this indicates that the battery pack is damaged. Do not use the battery pack if it is leaking. Safely discard the battery pack, and then replace the battery pack with a new one.
    2. If the charge kit feels hot when it is charging a battery pack, the battery pack may be damaged. Safely discard the battery pack, and then replace the battery pack with a new one.
