SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. In a Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0-based Windows Forms application, a System.Windows.Forms.Form class displays a modal form that contains an ErrorProvider control. The modal form displays an error in the ErrorProvider control. In this scenario, the modal form may hide behind its parent and disappear from view. The modal form remains active and still receives keyboard input even though the modal form does not appear. If the parent becomes active, the modal form is brought to the front. However, the modal form may hide behind its parent again later.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
