Article ID: 919140

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment

SYMPTOMS

After you deploy a new image to a computer by using the Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) script (ZeroTouchInstallation.vbs) that is included in the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD), you may receive the following error message:

STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the image does not contain the required driver entry in the [SysprepMassStorage] section of the Sysprep.inf answer file. In this scenario, the Plug and Play (PnP) ID of the controller cannot be populated in the critical device database of the image.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Restart the computer from CD to access the Sysprep.inf answer file.
  2. In a text editor, open the Sysprep.inf answer file.
  3. Locate the Sysprep section of the Sysprep.inf file, and then change the parameter to BuildMassStorageSection=yes.
  4. Verify that the Sysprep.inf file for the mass storage controller and driver are present in the image.
  5. Save the Sysprep.inf file.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
