INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to copy the data that is stored on an Undo drive and then paste this data to a new virtual machine in Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac.

For example, you may want to copy the data that is stored on an Undo drive and then paste this data to a new virtual machine if the original virtual machine becomes corrupted.

Note Make sure that the Undo Drives option is selected before you perform this procedure. Additionally, always select the Carry forward undoable changes option when you shut down the virtual machine.

To copy the data that is stored on an Undo drive and then paste this data to a new virtual machine, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new virtual machine in Virtual PC for Mac Version 7.

    Note You must select the Undo drives option on the new virtual machine.
  2. In Mac OS X, click Home on the Go menu.
  3. Double-click Documents, and then double-click Virtual PC List.
  4. Hold down CTRL, click the virtual machine that contains the information that you want to copy, and then click Show Package Contents.
  5. Hold down CTRL, click the .vdhp file that contains the information that you want to copy, and then click Show Package Contents. For example, hold down CTRL, click Windows XP Drive 1.vdhp, and then click Show Package Contents.
  6. Hold down CTRL, click Undodrive1.vud, and then click Copy.Undodrive1.vud.
  7. On the Go menu, click Home.
  8. Double-click Documents, and then double-click Virtual PC List.
  9. Hold down CTRL, click the virtual machine that you want to paste the data to, and then click Show Package Contents.
  10. Hold down CTRL, click the .vdhp file that contains the information that you want to replace, and then click Show Package Contents. For example, hold down CTRL, click Windows XP Drive 1.vdhp, and then click Show Package Contents.
  11. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  12. Start the new virtual machine. If you receive a message that resembles the following, click OK:

    This PC was not properly shut down during the last session
