APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, when used with:
    • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

SYMPTOMS

You experience one or more of the following symptoms after you connect a Calendar list from a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web site to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

  • Consider the following scenario. The Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 contains a recurring item, such as a meeting or an appointment. You modify or delete an occurrence of the recurring item in the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. When you synchronize the Calendar list that you added to Outlook 2003 with the Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you experience the following symptoms:
    • The occurrence of the recurring item in the Calendar list that you added to Outlook 2003 is not synchronized with the change that you made to it in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. That is, the occurrence of the recurring item is not modified or deleted. Instead, it is moved to the Local Failures folder in Outlook 2003.
    • You receive an error message that resembles the following in the Outlook Send/Receive Progress dialog box:

Task 'TaskName' reported error (0x80004005): 'Failed to copy one or more items. For details, see the log file Drive:\Path\Wss-sync-log.htm.'

  • Consider the following scenario. The Calendar list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 contains an all-day event. When you view the all-day event in the Calendar list that you added to Outlook 2003, the item is not listed as an all-day event. Instead, for example, the item shows a start time of 4:00 P.M. and an end time of 3:59 P.M. on the following day.

Note The start time and the end time of the item may vary. However, its duration is one minute less than 24 hours.

CAUSE

Outlook 2003 does not support certain new Calendar features that are included in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. Therefore, you experience one or both of the symptoms that are described in the "Symptoms" section when you connect a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Calendar list that contains a recurring item or an all-day event to Outlook 2003.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 includes enhanced integration with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. You can use Outlook 2007 to fully interact with information that is stored in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. For example, you can access collaborative areas that enable you to connect to and work with calendar lists, contact lists, task lists, documents, and discussions.
