SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, a program that uses a Winsock connection may stop responding.
This problem may occur when Microsoft Host Integration Server is installed.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the TCP/IP protocol driver (Tcpip.sys) does not notify the Winsock socket as expected when a remote peer closes the connection. Therefore, the program stops responding as it waits for the Recv Winsock function to finish.
