SYMPTOMS

A computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 may use lots of pool memory.

When you check the kernel dump file, you find no single tag that uses lots of pool memory.

This problem is more likely to occur when you use the /3GB switch in the Boot.ini file. The /3GB switch limits the pool memory that the system kernel can use. This situation usually occurs when you have Exchange Server installed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of high pool fragmentation.
