Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

When you try to restore a database to a new database name in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, the restore operation may fail. Additionally, you may receive one of the following error messages, depending on the version of SQL Server 2005:

  • The original release version of SQL Server 2005 (version 1399)

    Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The version of the linked measure group, with the name of 'SomeName', on the remote instance has changed. Repeat the operation to resolve the issue. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices)

  • SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) (version 2047)

    The server sent an unrecognizable response. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices) 'EndElement' is an invalid XmlNodeType. Line 1, position 85. (System.Xml)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.
