- Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PC Standard Edition
- Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software for Smartphone
SUMMARY
Microsoft ActiveSync 4.0 and later versions of ActiveSync will stop working when you try to synchronize appointments that were set by using the Lunar calendar option in Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. This issue only affects devices that are enabled to use the Lunar calendar option.
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. A device is running the Chinese, Korean, or Japanese version of Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. You use the Lunar calendar option to create items on the device. In this scenario, ActiveSync 4.0 and later versions of ActiveSync may fail when you try to synchronize these calendar items.
This issue does not occur on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices. The Lunar calendar option is unavailable on English, German, Spanish, or Portuguese versions of Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, put the lunar calendar-based appointments in a separate calendar folder. When you put the lunar calendar-based appointments in a separate folder, these appointments are not synchronized. Instead, only the remaining non-lunar calendar-based appointments synchronize.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
