Microsoft has released the Excel 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package for Microsoft Excel 2002.

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Excel 2002 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated May 3, 2006.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • When you change the data in a cell in the French version of Microsoft Excel 2002, the new data is added to the existing data in the cell. You expect the new data to replace the existing data in the cell.

    For example, this problem occurs when you follow these steps:
    1. You type data in a cell in a worksheet.
    2. You press F2 to start Edit mode.
    3. You move the pointer to the middle of the text in the cell.
    4. You press INSERT to start Overtype mode.
    5. You type data.

    You notice that the data that you typed in step 5 is added to the data that you typed in step 1.

  • The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. The full-file version of this hotfix is a post-Office XP SP3 hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP Service Pack 3 installed.

The French version of this hotfix uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix.
