SYMPTOMS
When you close Microsoft Money and then try to start Money again, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue may occur if of one of the following conditions is true:
- An online process is still running in Money. For example, there is a background banking synchronization process that is still running.
- Another program that is running on the computer is incompatible with Money.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one or more of the following methods.
Method 1: Wait for the process to complete
Wait several moments, and then try to start Money. If you still receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, end the process that is still running in Money. To do this, follow these steps:
- Press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and then click Task Manager.
- On the Processes tab, locate any process that starts with Money or with MNY.
- Click the process, and then click End Process.
- Reopen Money.
Method 2: Close Money
When you close Money, do not use the Close button (X) in the upper-right corner. Instead, click Close on the File menu.
Method 3: Remove and reinstall Money
- Use the Remove feature in the Money Setup program to manually remove certain files.
- Remove the registry entries.
- Perform a clean boot procedure.
- Reinstall Money.
