SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac to try to change your domain password in Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA), you may receive the following error message:

-2147024773

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the domain controller or the global catalog server that is responsible for authentication is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4 (SP4). The problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Server SP4 require updated security features that are incompatible with Internet Explorer for Mac. Because of the updated security features, you cannot use the Change Password feature in OWA to change your domain password.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use an alternative Web browser such as Apple Safari or Netscape Browser to access the Change Password feature in OWA to change your domain password. The current versions of Apple Safari and Netscape Browser support the required security features, and both are free downloads.

For more information about how to obtain the Apple Safari or Netscape Browser Web browsers, visit the following Web pages:

MORE INFORMATION

Internet Explorer for Mac is no longer available for download

In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no additional development, and that support would stop in 2005. In compliance with published support life-cycle policies, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31, 2005, and is not providing any additional security or performance updates. Accordingly, as of January 31, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft. We recommend that Macintosh users migrate to more recent Web browsing technologies such as Apple Safari. For more information, visit the following Microsoft Web page:
