The last column of a CSV file may be lost when you import it into Groove Enterprise Management Server

SYMPTOMS

When you import a comma separated values (CSV) file into Groove Enterprise Management Server or into Groove Hosted Management Services, the last column of the file may be lost.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you created the CSV file in Microsoft Excel. Each line in the CSV file must end with a comma and with a carriage return. If you create the CSV file from the template in Groove Enterprise Management Server, a comma is automatically added after the last item in each line. If you create the file in Excel, the final comma is not automatically added. Therefore, when you import the file into Groove Enterprise Management Server or into Groove Hosted Management Services, the final field in each line will be dropped.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • Add a blank field at the end of each line in the Excel worksheet.
  • Open the file by using a text editor such as Notepad, and then add a comma at the end of each line. For example, if you see the following line when you open the file in Notepad, add a comma after "cell":
    • Full Name, First name, Last name, E-mail, Title, Company, Street, City, State, Postal Code, Country, Phone, Fax, Cell
