Bug #: 383622 (SQLBUDT)
SYMPTOMS
When you try to convert a string to the XML data type in Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you may receive the following error message:
This problem occurs when you specify a prefix other than "xml" to the namespace "http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace%22 in the string.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the XML specification does not allow the namespace "http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace%22 to be bound to any prefix other than "xml".
RESOLUTION
Service pack information
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not bind the namespace "http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace%22 to any prefix other than "xml." Additionally, the prefix is case sensitive. Therefore, "XML" will not work.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1.
