SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer that does not allow end users to log on directly, you may experience the following symptoms:

  • The registry lazy writer thread that performs the registry hive synchronization to update the registry does not start.
  • The registry lazy flusher thread that automatically flushes the registry hive does not start.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the lazy writer and lazy flusher threads cannot update or flush the registry. This is because the lazy writer and the lazy flusher threads do not start until an end user directly logs on to the computer.
